SPOKANE MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER: Why should I book a maternity session with my newborn session?

Maternity sessions go so well with newborn sessions for preserving the memories of these fleeting times. Having both a maternity and newborn session captures the full story of that new baby and the transition of your family.

Time passes Quickly.

Pregnancy and the newborn phase really do fly by in a wild kind of way. It is the most joyful, stressful, fun, beautiful, and transformative season. There is so much going on in preparation of having a baby, creating a nursery, all of the symptoms of pregnancy, planning for all of the life changes that come. Having pictures taken really helps preserve the memories and stop time for just a glimpse so that you can always look back on this period in time. Babies don’t keep and pregnancy is over in a blink.

Allows you to build a connection with your photographer.

The right photographer should feel like you're meeting up with a good friend. Booking a maternity session and a newborn session with the same photographer allows you to build a relationship with your photographer.. A maternity session allows me to get to know you and your family prior to your newborn session when things can be a little more raw and emotional. Maternity sessions give me an opportunity to connect with your older children so that they aren’t thrown off by my presence and I’m not a complete stranger when the newborn photos take place later on, this is especially useful for households with toddlers.

Quality photos of your pregnancy to cherish for a lifetime.

So many women hide from the camera while pregnant (I did it too!). Pregnancy is a time to honor all that your body is doing as it’s changing over nine months and then beyond into postpartum with your new baby. A maternity session is an opportunity to have beautiful pictures of your pregnancy for you and your unborn child to cherish later on years down the road. You’ll be glad to have the pictures once you’re not pregnant anymore and realize that you wish you had taken so many more photos. You also may find that the pictures give you more confidence as your pregnancy progresses- kind of like a reminder that you are beautiful and what you’re doing is amazing even when you may not feel like it (that was my experience anyways!). Pregnancy is such a short blip in our motherhood journey and it is worthy of being documented beautifully.

P.S. Did you know if offer half off maternity photo sessions when booked with newborn photos? Check it out here.

  • Yes, absolutely they are when done right! My personal opinion is that maternity photos should be more like family or couples photos than a whole theatrical experience with a gown. Dress comfortably cute and get some pictures with your family before your new baby arrives.

  • Yes! You can take maternity photos in your home. Dress in a cute and casual manner and have a lifestyle photographer help you style it. There’s so many ways to document your pregnancy in your home.

  • Maternity photos should be taken between week 29 and 32 of your pregnancy.
