Where to have family photos done in Spokane, Washington | Spokane FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER
There are so many beautiful places around Spokane to have pictures taken. We truly live in a very scenic and beautiful place. Here are a few things to consider when deciding where to have your family photos taken this year in Spokane.
Convenience and comfortability.
Choosing a location that is convenient and comfortable for your family is important. I like to suggest choosing a location that is on the same side of town that you live on if possible and that you feel comfortable taking your family to. Not every location is right for every family and they all have factors to consider like are there steep drop off cliffs, is there traffic, will we be watched by other people passing by, can my kids run and explore. Every family has different needs and it’s important to think about what specific needs your family has during a family photoshoot.
What vibe you want in your photos.
Every location has its own vibe and that vibe will be reflected in your photos. Some families like an urban feel for their photos, some want the fun of a carnival, some dream of tall grass and open nature with room to explore, some want to be cozy in their home. Every family has different wants from their photos, so it’s important to consider the vibe of your location.
What season it is matters.
The season and weather should be considered when choosing where to take your family photos. Spokane has vast differences in weather and the look of locations during each season. Here’s a few of my favorite locations based on season in Spokane.
Winter
I love in-home family photos during winter, I think they are beautifully cozy and an intimate look into daily life within your home. It’s special to have kids under your roof and it’s great to have photos to preserve the season. Plus, Spokane homes have so much charming character, it’s impossible to take bad photos in a home in Spokane. We also have amazing winters full of snow and so much frosty beauty, winter truly is a special time to take family photos here.
Spring
Everything blooms beautifully in Spokane during the Spring time. Some of my favorite places to capture spring are at the Finch Arboretum, Manito Park, Riverfront Park, and some of the cool parks and conservation areas we have around town. You can really capture some magical cherry blossoms, wildflowers and so much more.
Summer
In my opinion, summer is the best time of year to have family photos taken. I love taking advantage of the Lavender farms and sunflower farms for summer photos. There’s also so many rivers and creeks to take photos at where you can dip your feet in. The creeks become very shallow and warm during summer, so it’s the perfect time to get photos done there.
Fall
Fall is known for robust colors and so much beauty. It’s no wonder it’s the most popular time of year to have family photos taken in Spokane. My favorite place to capture fall colors is Manito Park and Riverfront Park. There are also a number of great conservation areas to explore too.
Make it meaningful.
The number one most important factor when choosing a location for your family photos is to choose somewhere meaningful. The more meaningful the place is to your family, the more you will love and cherish your photos. We all have places that are special to our family for one reason or another, incorporating that into you photos will make them feel so much more special when you look at them.
