NATURAL LIGHT LIFESTYLE MATERNITY SESSION IN SPOKANE |SPOKANE MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER
It’s summer time in Spokane which means it’s the perfect time to get those warm, natural light family or maternity photos taken outdoors. I’ve been a lifestyle photographer for nearly 14 years and as someone who has a very dynamic background in different types of photography, natural, golden hour light is still my all time favorite this time of year. The grass has turned golden, the wildflowers have dried out, the dust kicks up just right to scatter the sun rays. This is the most sunny, glittery time of year for sunset lifestyle photos.
Here is an example of a maternity photoshoot that I took in Spokane. My maternity photos look a lot life family photos, because I believe having a baby is a full family event, so even if you’re not pregnant and looking for family photos, right now is the very best time to do it.
I’ve always been most known for my detail shots and photos that look casual and candid. I guide and direct my clients and then allow real moments to unfold, which makes my work special and unique to each family that I work with. I welcome everyone to just be themselves, come as they are and I promise there is no modeling experience required, I’ll take care of that part for you.

While golden hour is great at literally any time of the year, I’d say July to September is the very best time if you are looking for warm, sunny, golden looking photos. Opt for a location with tall, dry, grass and dress in warm summer colors to really bring out the golden goodness.

Most of the time, it is not a problem at all as long as everyone comes with a good attitude about the photos. It’s okay to have some nerves, being photographed is extremely vulnerable. This is why I pose the way that I do, I gently guide and direct my clients into poses and allow real moments to unfold. I ask my clients not to look at my camera and to look at their family members, which adds a level of comfort that allows even the most nervous family members to relax. I, myself am an introvert, so I bring a calm and soothing energy to my sessions.

I’ve got you covered on this one. I totally understand that having littles stay up late can be tough and there’s a number of ways to handle this.
-
Absolutely not. I pride myself on my ability to photograph anyone well. I have a very specific method for posing families that looks very natural and requires no experience or special abilities.

We get golden hour twice each day if the weather is clear. Sunrise and Sunset can both be great times to take golden hour photos.

I’m actually in the minority of photographers on this one as I’m not bothered one bit by fussy babies. I photograph hundreds of babies and children each year and I actually like the photos better when babies are a bit fussy, because it creates more intense emotion and connection in the photos. So fear not if you have a fussy baby, I’m equipped to handle it.
